This is a terribly strange year! A bit surreal and apocalyptic … 2020 surprised probably everyone with its pandemic paranoia.
I must have felt subconsciously that something was coming, because a year ago I already started working on a project tentatively called `Las Caras de Emociones ´/ `Faces of emotions´ and the first series created was entitled: `Las Caras del Dolor´ /`Faces of pain ´
My `faces´ are expressive works painted with acrylics on various surfaces such as paper, cardboard, plywood, created under the influence of emotions related to difficult moments, which are given to us by the so-called prose of life and which leave their mark on us: disease and pain, sadness, stress, anger …
Emotions related to longing for the past or being lost in the present, fear and uncertainty about the future are reflected in the diptych `Ladies MelancoliaS´
The next series was `Lunáticas´, or self-portraits under the lunatic influence of the moon …
The last paintings that were created at the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, but before the official announcement of the pandemic, are `Las Máscaras y Mascarillas´, small formats, acrylic on canvas, showing faces-masks
